MAINU YiNOOT
Mainu Yinoot is a Paraguayan artist based in Finland since 2022. Her work grows out of touch,
where clay and papier-mâché carry memory, fragility and imagination. She treats texture as a
language - smooth, rough or uneven - through which the senses can be awakened and the body
can find resonance with material and environment.
She began working with natural clay in 2021 and has since expanded to different modelling
materials and papier-mâché, remaining close to the intimacy of handwork. Everyday elements
become nourishment for visual expression, echoing the way food sustains the body while art
nourishes the spirit.
Her sculptures evoke the imaginative beauty of living beings, inviting viewers to experience them
beyond vision, through a presence where matter and life merge. Mainu works with the intention of
expressing her vision in a way that the public can identify with each piece, a practice she calls Yvy
Po, or “ground hands,” reflecting her desire to connect deeply with both material and audience.
