FABU PIRES

Fabu Pires (BR/FI, b. 1978, Taubaté, Brazil) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Helsinki whose practice intertwines painting, textiles, and cultural research. Drawing from his Brazilian roots and life in Finland, he creates a symbolic visual language where imagined fauna, human figures, and iconic objects merge into layered narratives of memory, belonging, and transformation.

His work explores themes of identity, migration, hybridity, and the dialogue between humans and nature, often reflecting on freedom, community, and equality.

Alongside his artistic practice, since 2014 Pires has been active in social and research-based projects with migrant youth, founding Fuse Art Collective and collaborating with Myymälä2 and Kulttuuriyhdistämö Interkult to promote cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue.
