KUNSTHAUS JÄGERMEISTER 2025 OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS

Theme: Sustainable Consumption as Art

Application period: 13 June – 21 July 2025

To apply, please email: kunsthausjagermeister@gmail.com

Kunsthaus Jägermeister launches the fifth season of its studio residency in Helsinki, inviting artists and creators to join this year’s edition, which explores a broad spectrum of contemporary art practices focused on sustainable consumption and the rethinking of waste culture.

We welcome submissions across various media with a focus on sustainability. This project is a space for dialogue, experimentation, and creative response. Kunsthaus Jägermeister is a community-driven platform that supports artists by fostering interdisciplinary learning, exploration, and hands-on workshops.

During the residency, Kunsthaus offers artists the opportunity to express themselves through an open workshop, as well as a Kunst Talk, where they present themselves, their work, artistic practice, and techniques to the public.

Each selected artist will receive:
• An 800 € artist fee (invoiced)
• 200 € material support
• A -50% discount on art supplies at Tempera during the project

To apply, please email: kunsthausjagermeister@gmail.com
Include the following:
• 3–5 images of your work (or a link to your portfolio)
• A short text about yourself and your practice
• Social media and/or website links

Selection of participants will be finalised, by the 10th of August.
Artist selection is based on the potential for mutual benefit — considering both the individual needs of each applicant and the group dynamic — to create a supportive and collaborative residency environment.

This year, a group of selected artists will work together for a period of six weeks (1 September – 12 October) in the shared studio space at Merimiehenkatu 36 D, Helsinki.
We expect the artists to work a minimum of three days per week. The days can be chosen by the artists themselves, but there will be weekly check-ins with the curator (Wednesdays, 4–6 pm).

• Event in collaboration with Helsinki Design Week 2025 — to be produced together
• Open studio sessions
• Workshops
• Kunsthaus Jägermeister Artists’ Get-Together
• Final exhibition presenting the outcomes of the residency

Important to know
• Artists applying for the residency must reside in Finland
• The residency does not provide accommodation
• Active promotion of Kunsthaus is expected from all participants

• Kunsthaus does not take any commission from the art that is made and sold during the art residency. In addition, a group piece is to be made by all residency participants.

If you have any questions related to this open call, please contact the residency curator, Kristina Korpelainen, at kunsthausjagermeister@gmail.com.

We look forward to receiving your applications!
